Business Development and Licensing

GE Healthcare works with a variety of external collaborators in the development of products within its strategic areas of interest. These collaborations can take a variety of forms depending on the needs of the collaborator and the demands of the project. GE Healthcare has successfully worked with large pharmaceutical companies, small private companies, biotechnology companies and universities throughout the world.

GE Healthcare offers collaborators the expertise and means with which to develop and market a medical imaging product alone or in conjunction with a related therapeutic.

GE Healthcare is seeking external opportunities which have a potential application as diagnostic imaging agents. Such opportunities could be small molecules peptides or proteins (or other macromolecules) where a transport or targeting mechanism has been demonstrated. With proper labeling these molecules can be developed into valuable targeted in-vivo imaging agents.
 

Process
Initially we require sufficient non-confidential information to determine our level of interest and fit with our plans; this usually takes 3 to 4 weeks.  If positive we assemble an appropriate team of scientific and commercial experts to dig deeper to understand the opportunity and what is required to make it a success.

We are experienced at working with individuals, academia, technology transfer offices, biotech’s and pharma. We work with the potential partner to construct a deal that uses the strengths and capabilities of both parties as appropriate for an efficient, successful program - this differs case-by-case depending on the development status and the partner’s resources and expertise.

Other partnerships
GE Healthcare has a global presence and decades of experience in launching new products across imaging modalities and disease areas. We welcome opportunities to leverage this expertise and are open to exploring other deal types including marketing, sales and distribution where the partner has already completed the development program.

Inorganic Growth
As well as in-licensing in-vivo imaging products the Medical Diagnostics business explores adjacent areas to grow the business. This may include in-vitro diagnostics which align with the existing portfolio.
